NEW: The Big Book of Soap Designs

I did it! I finally did it! I put together a book with the most popular soap designs. These are tried and true soaps from the last 5 years of DIY Soap Box. I had so much fun coming up with the designs and creating these soaps for the monthly subscription boxes, and people loved making them. So now that the DIY Box has finished, I wanted to share the best and most popular ones with you.

In this book you’ll find over 40 different soap designs with full colour step-by-step instructions. Check out some of the designs below.

But these are only some of them. There are at least 25 more soap designs in the book. Each design comes with its complete recipe – that’s over 40 different soap recipes!

You’ll learn new techniques, try out new ingredients, expand your soap skills, and hopefully be inspired by the many unique designs. The book is geared to both beginners and advanced soap makers, with designs at various skill levels. Some even include links to tutorial videos, so you can watch me make the soap.

I have never seen a book like this on the market. Usually it’s either basic ‘how to make soap’ kind of books, or just a collection of simple soaps. But never have I seen a book with so many different soap techniques and unique designs, not only taking you through each step-by-step but also including video tutorials.

What kind of soaps are included in the book? You’ll find natural soaps, such as the Lavender Three Ways Soap, Hemp Soap, and the Gardeners Soap. You’ll find fun designs where bright colours, such as neon pigments, are used in swirls and combinations to create unique soap designs. There are soaps using fresh ingredients such as aloe vera or orange juice. My favourite being the coffee and chocolate combination! There are soaps for special holidays and occasions, like Christmas, Halloween, Mother’s Day, and Breast Cancer Awareness, just to name a few. You’ll get to try out a range of different techniques, such as the rain drops technique, In-The-Pot swirl, One Pot Wonder, thin lines in different ways, and many other swirling and layering techniques. You’ll be using different tools like the hanger tool, squeezer bottles, spoons, cardboard or chopsticks. Make soap using different types of moulds. And so much more!

All the recipes are given in both ounces and grams, both imperial and metric, so that everyone gets to use this book!

Although different ingredients are used, all the ingredients should be readily available in most countries. I use oils in my soaps that are not difficult to find, such as coconut oil, olive oil, rice bran oil, canola oil, shea butter, cocoa butter etc. Some of the ingredients used are sea salt, orange juice, mica, neon pigment, clays, and you can choose the fragrance or essential oil (because everyone has different tastes!). Some do have fragrance or essential oil recommendations, but most of the time I will just state if it has to be non-discolouring or non-accelerating, or both, or neither.

The recipes are all tried and true, and have been ‘tested’ by the subscribers of the DIY Boxes. So you can be sure that the recipes work. That said, some are more or less difficult, and I cannot give a guarantee. Even I will muck up sometimes!
