Frankincense & Rose Repair Serum

With hyaluronic acid

Pure Nature was so kind to send me a sample of their LMW (low molecular weight) hyaluronic acid. The low molecular weight means it has smaller molecules than the ‘normal’ hyaluronic acid. This allows the hyaluronic acid to penetrate deeper into the skin, bringing more hydration and benefits to the skin. Hyaluronic occurs naturally in our skin, helping to retain moisture and keep our skin plump, but as we age the levels of hyaluronic acid decreases, and our skin loses its moisture and plumpness. The LMW hyaluronic acid is especially suitable for mature skin, as it not only re-hydrates your skin, but it also helps restore its elasticity, softens and smoothes your skin, contributing to a significant anti-wrinkling effect.

A powerful Repair Serum with
Hyaluronic acid to hydrate from deep within,
Frankincense to repair and protect the skin, and
Rose to calm and soothe.

Because it’s such a powerful ingredient, I decided to combine it with two other powerful anti-aging ingredients, frankincense and rose, and create this Repair Serum for mature skins (like mine!). Use it daily, and you’ll notice the results in a very short time! Your skin will feel more hydrated, balanced out, softer and smoother, and more plump and radiant, and rejuvenated. We can’t turn back time, but this serum surely does a great job at pretending we can!

This serum is water-based and has a very light texture, making it easy to apply and allows for rapid absorption, which leaves your skin feeling hydrated and refreshed without any greasy residue. It is suitable for both dry and oily skin, and not just mature skins will benefit from its anti-ageing and rejuvenating properties!

I was gifted the LMW hyaluronic acid from Pure Nature, and I purchased all the other ingredients from Pure Nature as well.

Ingredients used

Hyaluronic acid LMW – Hyaluronic acid is found in many plants and animals, and even our skin contains hyaluronic acid. Its property is to keep our skin hydrated and plump. However, as we age, the level of hyaluronic acid decreases, and our skin loses its moisture and plumpness. Make sure to use the Low Molecular Weight hyaluronic acid, which is more effective and penetrates deeper into the skin.

Rose hydrosol –  Abundant in bio active compounds that are anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, conditioning and protecting to the skin. Especially beneficial for mature skins. Rose hydrosol is a by-product from the distillation process of the essential oil. Unlike floral waters, which are in effect water with essential oils added to it, hydrosols contain the volatile water-soluble compounds of the plant material, making it a valuable skin care ingredient.

Frankincense essential oil – Frankincense has been used throughout the ages as a powerful anti-aging ingredient. It is anti-inflammatory and calming, but its power lies in its astringent properties, which helps repair and protect skin cells and tighten pores. It also helps even out pigmentation, improve skin tone, strengthen the skin and its elasticity, smooth fine lines and reduce wrinkles, which makes it one of the best essential oils for mature skin.

Glycerine – Found in many skin care products due to its humectant properties, to draw moisture to itself, which helps keep the skin hydrated. Glycerine come from animal sources or from petroleum, so look for glycerine that is plant based and palm-free.

Propanediol – Derived from corn sugar, it is a preferred natural substitute for propylene glycol, which is petroleum based and found in many skin care products. Propanediol is considered safer and non-irritating. In skin care, it is often used as a solvent and humectant. It reduces the tackiness of glycerine, and increases hydration in products.

Xanthan gum – used as a thickener and to make gels. In this serum, xanthan gum is used to give it its light gel-like texture. Xanthan gum is a natural polysaccharide which is derived from the fermentation of sugars.

Preservative – as this is a water-based skin care product it is important to use a preservative. After all, you do not want to put a product that has mould and bacteria growing in it on your skin! Make sure to use a preservative that is broad spectrum and water-soluble. You can use Liquid Germall Plus, which is a good all round, broad spectrum , easy-to-use preservative, even if it’s synthetic. If you would like to go natural, use Geogard Ultra, which is a little trickier to use and needs heat to dissolve completely. For this serum, take a small amount of the hydrosol and add the Geogard Ultra. Heat gently until completely dissolved and then add to the product at the end.
